Waterside House Campsite & Pooley Bridge

We spent a couple of nights in the luxurious bell tent at Waterside House Campsite, just south of Pooley Bridge.  Here they have tipis, bell tents, camping pods and a field for tents/campers.

The kids absolutely loved the tent, which was pitched and furnished already for us, right on the shores of Ullswater.  There are lots of photos below.

We used the campsite as our base for our adventures, heading up to Angletarn Pikes on the first day and to Brotherswater on the second.   Not to mention swimming in Ullswater, right outside our tent and playing in the campsite playground with a magnificent backdrop!

From the campsite, you can walk into Pooley Bridge (see photos below of the lakeshore walk).  We ate at both the Crown Inn and our favourite, the Pooley Bridge Inn.  There are a couple of other eateries in Pooley Bridge too, which we must try out next time we visit.

It’s a great base for walking.  Other walks from here include Dunmallard Hill, Hallin Fell, Low Dodd and Scales Beck, Gowbarrow, Aira Force, Glenridding Dodd, Lanty’s Tarn & Keldas, Hayeswater Reservoir, Askham & Helton fells and many more!
