Buckstones Jump, Rydal
Buckstones Jump near Rydal has been on our list for a long time, and finally we made it there today! What an awesome little spot! It’s a short walk up from Rydal and offers a great little beach area, with stones on one side and grass on the other. There’s waterfalls and pools to swim or paddle in and plenty of rocks to climb and explore.
Pepperpot and Eaves Wood, Silverdale
Today’s walk was a fun and easy 2-2.5 mile out and back (or loop) walk up to the Pepperpot monument in Eaves Wood, Silverdale. The views from the top reach as far as Ingleborough, Morecambe, Warton Crag, Arnside Knott, Morecambe, Heysham, the Blackpool Tower, Barrow and beyond.
Kettlewell Picnic Spot, Derwentwater
Kettlewell is a beautiful little picnic spot just off the Borrowdale Road, on the south east shores of Derwentwater. Free for National Trust members, and offering a pretty little beach and local walks.
Coniston Water, Coniston

Waterside House Campsite & Pooley Bridge
We spent a couple of nights in the luxurious bell tent at Waterside House Campsite, just south of Pooley Bridge. We used the campsite as our base for our adventures, heading up to Angletarn Pikes on the first day and to Brotherswater on the second. Not to mention swimming in Ullswater, right outside our tent and playing in the campsite playground with a magnificent backdrop!
