Penny Rock Beach, on the shores of Grasmere, is one of our regular family outings. You can combine it with a walk from White Moss, Rydal Caves or up Loughrigg Fell. Or just head straight to the beach for fun in the sun!

We love to take a picnic, our swimming stuff and our friends and spend the day splashing around and exploring.

Park at White Moss car park on the A591 at grid reference 351065 on OS map OL7, just north of Rydal Water.

If you walk direct from the car park, it’s 0.5 miles each way, but obviously you can combine it with other walks to increase the distance if required.

Follow the signs towards Grasmere and when the river meets the lake, there’s Penny Rock Beach!
