The National Trust car park has approximately 20 spaces, and is free for members to park.  For non-members, it costs £2 for 2 hours, £6 for 4 hours and £7.50 for an all day ticket.  It’s worth knowing that an all day ticket is transferable to any Borrowdale and Buttermere Valley National Trust car park.  It means you can stop here for a picnic on your way, without incurring any extra charge.

There’s a small pebble beach and glorious views out over the lake and fells.  It makes a nice little stop off for lunch if you’re in the Borrowdale area.  It’s also perfect for launching a kayak, or going for a paddle or even a swim.

There are no toilet facilities here, or cafe, so come prepared.

Family walks near here include Lodore Falls, the Bowder Stone and Friar’s Crag.
