Levens Hall Deer Park, Levens

This is a gently undulating, but mostly flat, 3 mile circular walk along the River Kent, just outside of Kendal, up to Force Falls at the top and back down to Levens Hall in the south.

You can park for free in the small lay-by on the A6 at grid reference 496853 on OS map OL7.  The walk is well signed and starts at the bridge opposite Levens Hall.

If you’ve got little ones, or you don’t fancy a long walk, you can simply picnic by the river a few hundred metres from the road side.  At the moment (July 2018) the river levels are very low and the kids had lots of safe fun throwing stones and splashing about in the water.  Do take care in the open water.

The Park forms part of the Levens Estate and is privately owned, but visitors are welcome to walk through the park using the public footpaths.  Sometimes you can see the wild black fallow deer and the rare breed Bagot goats grazing.

The map in the photos below shows where to park (P), where the falls are (*) and where is a good place to picnic / paddle (arrow).
