  • Raven Crag, Thirlmere

    Raven Crag, Thirlmere

Situated at the northern end of Thirlmere reservoir, Raven Crag is a short, but steep Wainwright Fell.  The route is less than 2 miles in total and is an out and back that gives stunning views over Thirlmere and the surrounding fells.

    Kettlewell Picnic Spot, Derwentwater

Kettlewell is a beautiful little picnic spot just off the Borrowdale Road, on the south east shores of Derwentwater. Free for National Trust members, and offering a pretty little beach and local walks.

  • Fleetwith Pike, Honister

    Fleetwith Pike, Honister

A 2.8 mile circular walk up to Fleetwith Pike from Honister Slate Mine. Another Wainwright ticked off, but a difficult climb for little legs. Amazingly beautiful views from the top over Buttermere and Crummock Water.

  • Cautley Spout, Howgills

    Cautley Spout, Howgills

Cautley Spout, England’s highest cascade waterfall, in the Howgills, is a fantastic, easy family walk. You can do the easy 2 mile flat (ish) out and back, or the harder 3 mile route up to the top of the falls themselves. Re-fuel at the quaint Cross Keys Temperance Inn at the bottom.

  • Castle Crag and Caves, Borrowdale

    Castle Crag and Caves, Borrowdale

Today’s walk through Borrowdale was a truly amazing family adventure!  It had everything that the kids (and adults alike) loved… a cave, large boulders to clamber over, stepping stones across a river, shoreline to throw stones in, an exciting scree slope climb, toasting marshmallows on an open fire and amazing views over the Borrowdale valley…

  • Fisherplace Gill, Thirlmere

    Fisherplace Gill, Thirlmere

Fisherplace Gill waterfalls, above Thirlmere are absolutely beautiful.  And make for a perfect family walk starting from The King’s Head Hotel.  The walk is less than 1.5 miles in total, out and back. The terrain is a bit rocky, and can be slippy when wet, but is lots of fun for the kids to scramble…

  • Kong Adventure, Keswick

    Kong Adventure, Keswick

Kong Adventure is perfect for the family in wet weather (even dry!) It has a hard play area, caves, indoor climbing, ice wall, a cafe and offers outdoor experiences too. We really enjoyed the family zone where the kids played for ages in the hard play and caves whilst we had a coffee!

  • Simpson Ground Reservoir, Bowland Bridge

    Simpson Ground Reservoir, Bowland Bridge

Today we completed a very wet and boggy circular walk up to Simpson Ground Reservoir, south west of Bowland Bridge. The views are beautiful and probably even more brilliant is the fact that we saw not a single other human being on the entire 3.4 mile walk!
