Brockhole-on-Windermere
A new adventure playground has opened at Brockhole-on-Windermere (Feb-18). There’s plenty of things to see, do and enjoy here, including a nice cafe and lakeshore.

Brandlehow, Derwentwater
Brandlehow is an easy, low level walk, along the shores of Derwentwater in the Lake District. This mostly flat (but not pushchair friendly) circular walk is about 2.3 miles and can be started at any point on the route.

Alcock Tarn, Grasmere
You’ll find Alcock Tarn above Grasmere, in the central Lake District. It’s beautiful in its own right, and also offers amazing views out over to Windermere, Coniston, Elterwater, Grasmere, Easedale Tarn and beyond! We did a 2.5 mile clockwise circular route, starting at the Swan Hotel at Grasmere.

Kettlewell Picnic Spot, Derwentwater
Kettlewell is a beautiful little picnic spot just off the Borrowdale Road, on the south east shores of Derwentwater. Free for National Trust members, and offering a pretty little beach and local walks.

Coniston Water, Coniston
Coniston Water is one of our favourite lakes in the Lake District, and is accessible from many areas. Here is the perfect family picnic, based near the Bluebird Cafe in Coniston itself.

Fell Foot Park, on Windermere
Fell Foot Park is an absolutely fantastic picnic spot on the shores of southern Windermere. In fact, it’s more than just a picnic spot, it’s a whole day out of you want it to be.

Scale Force, Crummock Water
Scale Force is a beautiful waterfall near Crummock Water. It’s probably best seen before the tree foliage gets too thick, but it was still worth a visit today.
