The walk up to Yew Barrow, near Newby Bridge in the southern Lake District, is less than 2 miles and is only a gentle 430 feet of ascent. You’ll find Alcock Tarn above Grasmere, in the central Lake District.  It’s beautiful in its own right, and also offers amazing views out over to Windermere, Coniston, Elterwater, Grasmere, Easedale Tarn and beyond!  We did a 2.5 mile clockwise circular route, starting at the Swan Hotel at Grasmere.

  • Scale Force, Crummock Water

    Scale Force, Crummock Water

Scale Force is a beautiful waterfall near Crummock Water.  It’s probably best seen before the tree foliage gets too thick, but it was still worth a visit today.
