Bluebells at Brown Robin Woods, Grange
We headed for an easy 1 mile walk in Brown Robin Woods Nature Reserve, in Grange over Sands. And, being the end of April, the bluebells were out, which made this walk very pretty indeed.

Rannerdale is commonly known as the Valley of the Bluebells, although it is a fantastic walk at any time of year. If you want to go when the bluebells are out, you’ll need to go at some point in May. There are three options available on this walk: 1) an easy, mostly flat 0.5 mile out and back (1 mile in total) to see the bluebells. 2) a moderate 3 mile circular walk which doesn’t take in Rannerdale Knotts summit but does go through the bluebells or 3) a steep, quite tricky but very rewarding 2.6 mile route that takes in the bluebells and Rannerdale Knotts summit, which is a Wainwright Fell.
We headed to Muncaster Castle to explore the grounds, discover the fairy trail, the owls and hawks, the gardens, castle and MeadowVole Maze
If you’ve ever wanted to see a million bluebells, Cowclose Wood, near Bowland Bridge is the place to go in late April/early May time. It is stunningly beautiful, and the bluebells are so expansive, covering a massive area in both Clowclose and Colehowe Woods.
There is a cave about half way along Barker Scar, at Old Park Wood, near Holker in the South Lakes. Aside from the cave, there is plenty to enjoy and explore on this stretch of Morecambe Bay / River Leven estuary coastline.
