Windermere’s west shoreline
Today we caught the ferry from Bowness on Windermere across to Claife Heights. We took a go kart, scooter and a bike, plus three kids aged 3, 5 and 6.

Stickle Tarn, Langdale
Today’s walk to Stickle Tarn in Langdale was amazingly beautiful. It was also a hard slog up! Don’t be fooled in thinking this short (2 mile) walk is easy. You climb approximately 400 metres in altitude.

Walla Crag, Borrowdale
The views from the top of Walla Crag, at 379 metres (1243 feet), are simply stunning. And at this height, it’s another Wainwright Fell ticked off the list. Our 5 year old had no problems at all summiting this one, although it is steep in places. But it’s easy to navigate and not too far…

Bowkerstead, Grizedale
Today we did part of the Forestry Commission’s High Bowkerstead trail, south of Grizedale. The forests were alive today with so much to discover and explore. The foxgloves and thistles were making an appearance, along with hundreds of butterflies, slugs, beetles, spiders and ants!

Bowder Stone & Grange Fell, Borrowdale
The Bowder Stone is a popular, and interesting feature near Grange, in the beautiful Borrowdale valley. We decided to combine a visit to this giant, fun rock with a 2.5 mile circular walk up King’s How – Grange Fell, which is a Wainwright, at 392 metres or 1286 feet.

Muncaster Castle, Ravenglass
We headed to Muncaster Castle to explore the grounds, discover the fairy trail, the owls and hawks, the gardens, castle and MeadowVole Maze

Eskdale Stepping Stones, Steam Train & Camping Pod
We had a very adventurous family weekend in Eskdale, in the western Lake District. We started with a trip on the Ravensglass to Eskdale Steam Railway, went fro a lovely walk and ended up staying in a camping pod at Eskdale Campsite

Bluebells at Cowclose Wood, Bowland Bridge
If you’ve ever wanted to see a million bluebells, Cowclose Wood, near Bowland Bridge is the place to go in late April/early May time. It is stunningly beautiful, and the bluebells are so expansive, covering a massive area in both Clowclose and Colehowe Woods.
