    Today’s walk was a short (less than 1 mile) adventure to see if we could find the Fairies Cave, near Whitbarrow Scar in South Lakeland. It’s a small but very interesting limestone cave, hidden in the beautiful woodland surrounding Whitbarrow Scar.

    This is a beautiful, 4.75 mile, mostly flat walk to see the Bronze Age stone circle, Long Meg, and then to explore Lacy’s Caves on the River Eden near Penrith.

    Today’s walk through Borrowdale was a truly amazing family adventure!  It had everything that the kids (and adults alike) loved… a cave, large boulders to clamber over, stepping stones across a river, shoreline to throw stones in, an exciting scree slope climb, toasting marshmallows on an open fire and amazing views over the Borrowdale valley…

    Kong Adventure, Keswick

    Kong Adventure is perfect for the family in wet weather (even dry!) It has a hard play area, caves, indoor climbing, ice wall, a cafe and offers outdoor experiences too. We really enjoyed the family zone where the kids played for ages in the hard play and caves whilst we had a coffee!

    Barker Scar, near Old Park Wood, Holker

    There is a cave about half way along Barker Scar, at Old Park Wood, near Holker in the South Lakes. Aside from the cave, there is plenty to enjoy and explore on this stretch of Morecambe Bay / River Leven estuary coastline.
