A one way walk from the top of the Kirkstone Pass to Brotherswater Inn required a bit of logistical planning! We are lucky enough to have two cars and so left one at the bottom and drove the other to the top.
This is a pretty tough walk for little feet, approx 4km of ups and downs, but it was a great day out, even if there was rain involved! And the views along the way can be truly spectacular in fine weather.
You can park at the top in the car park near the Kirkstone Inn or on the road near grid reference 402081 on OS map OL7.
We followed the footpath up St Raven’s Edge, which is a steep initial climb, followed it up and along to the top of Caudale Moor (yes, you’ve bagged a Wainwright!) and then down, down and thankfully more down along Rough Edge until you reach the road at the bottom.
A short walk along and you make it to Sykeside and the Brotherswater Inn for some tasty pub grub and a well earned drink!
Probably recommend this one for older kids, or families that are happy to carry their kids! We did this one when our little boy was only 12 months old, so we carried him all the way.
