Fell Foot Park, on Windermere

Fell Foot Park is an absolutely fantastic picnic spot on the shores of southern Windermere.  In fact, it’s more than just a picnic spot, it’s a whole day out of you want it to be.

Situated at the very southern tip of England’s longest lake, Windermere, Fell Foot is a great, family friendly location to play, explore and relax. Sweeping lawns offer plenty of space for games, picnics and gentle walks, while easy lake access makes the park perfect for paddling, swimming and boating.

Rowing boats are available to hire (from April to October) and the adventure playground offers fun for all ages.

Most of the paths are wheelchair accessible, being mainly gravel paths.  There’s a delicious cafe (open Apr – Sept 10am – 5pm but check website for details) which has recently been refurbished and includes a shop.

The park itself is quite big, and includes a large meadow to the south, so you could have a nice walk around the grounds.  There are also maps and leaflets in the shop for other local walking routes.  Dogs on a lead are welcome.  Toilets are also available.

Fell Foot is owned by the National Trust, so car parking is free if you’re a member, making this a very good value day out.  Non-members will need to pay parking charges as follows: £3 – 1hr, £4 – 2hr, £7 – 4hr or £9 – day.

It’s a lovely spot. There are some walks in the park itself, although it’s more of a picnic place, with wide great skies, access to the lake shore, playground and cafe. There are some beautiful he’s very close by, including Gummer’s How we love. Such wonderful views over the lakes from up there 😀 Thanks for commenting 👍
